Privacy policy — Stone Chart

The short version

Stone Chart stores your charted games in a database on your device. You can use the whole app — charting, scoring, stats, replay, the on-ice tools, CSV export — without an account and without an internet connection. In that mode we receive nothing at all.

If you create an account, your games are copied to our cloud database so they can sync between your devices and appear on the web dashboard. That is the only reason the data leaves your device.

We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and there is no analytics or tracking SDK in the app.

Using Stone Chart without an account

No account, no sign-in, no data transmitted. Everything you chart is written to local storage on your phone or tablet, and it stays there. Deleting the app deletes that data.

CSV export writes a file that you choose what to do with. We never see it.

If you create an account

Accounts and cloud storage are provided by Supabase, which hosts our database and handles sign-in. When you sign in, these are stored:

Your email address and an encrypted password, used to sign you in and to recover your account. We never see your password in a readable form.
Your charted data — games, ends and scores, individual shots and their positions, teams, player names as you typed them, and any notes you added to a shot.

Every row is tied to your account and protected by database rules that allow access only to the signed-in owner. Other users cannot read your games.

Player names are whatever you type. Rosters are just labels in your own database — creating a player does not create an account for them, notify them, or tell us anything about them. If you would rather not store teammates' real names, initials or positions work exactly as well.

Ice notes stay on your device. The notes journal is deliberately local-only and is never uploaded, even with an account.

Crash reporting

Builds may include Sentry crash reporting so we can find and fix crashes. Where it is enabled:

It sends crash reports only — the error and the code path that produced it, plus device model and OS version.
Personally identifying information is switched off, and performance tracing is disabled.
Your charted games, notes, and note text are never attached to a crash report.

Builds without a crash-reporting key configured send no telemetry whatsoever and start exactly as they would without the library.

What we never collect

No location or GPS data.
No contacts, photos, calendar, or microphone access.
No advertising identifiers, and no ad networks.
No behavioural or usage analytics — we do not track which screens you open or how long you spend in the app.
No payment card details. If paid plans launch, payments are handled by the app stores or by Stripe, and card numbers never reach us.

Sharing and third parties

The only third parties that ever process your data are the infrastructure providers that make the app work: Supabase (accounts and cloud database), Sentry (crash reports, where enabled), and Cloudflare (hosting this website and the web dashboard). They act on our behalf and do not get your data for their own purposes.

We may disclose data if legally required to, and would tell you unless prohibited from doing so.

Deleting your data

Delete your account from inside the app: Account → Delete account. That permanently removes your account and every game synced to the cloud. It cannot be undone.

Games already on your device are kept, so deleting your account never destroys a season's charting — you can carry on offline. To remove the local copy too, delete individual games in the app or uninstall it.

You can also email hello@stonechart.app to request deletion, a copy of your data, or a correction, and we will action it.

Children

Stone Chart is built for coaches, players, and clubs, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Junior programmes are welcome to chart games — note that a player name in a roster is only a label you typed, and initials work just as well.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially we will update this page and its effective date. Continuing to use the app after a change means the updated policy applies.
